THE SONG OF KEVIN OSCILLATE

Is it right or is it wrong?
Is it up or is it down?
Is it this way, right or left?
In or out or yon or thither? Kevin never could decide.
Decide! Decide! Decide! Decide!

But he knew not what he wanted,
Wanting something but not deciding was the hardest thing of all
Stand or sit
Or walk or run
Here or there or in between.

Make your mind up! They would tell him but it did not help at all
Check shirt, stripped shirt, tea or coffee he would drive his friends so mad
Bus or car or train or should we just stay at home instead
Cash or cheque, which one is better or what about the credit card?
Hands in pockets, belt or braces. Did it matter? Yes it did!
Beef or porridge, fruit or butter, on and on the questions came
Shoes or hat. Stick or whistle. On and on. His head would burst.

Only standing in a corner
Only staring never listening
Only looking never thinking brought him any peace at all.

Poor old Kevin had much promise, much to offer, much to lose
All he did all day was nothing
'Til his last decision came.

In the ground or in the fire.
But it was too late to choose!
